Welcome To Summer School 2012

High Point University's summer programs are designed to enhance the benefit of learning for students who wish to enroll in courses during the summer. Both HPU students and students from other universities may take courses during our summer sessions. With online, day, and evening classes, summer learners can take full advantage of additional course credits.
We welcome you to our campus and are excited to have you join our High Point University family, if only for a few months. Summer course enrollment and registration for summer only students is conducted through the Office of Academic Development. Continuing HPU Day students may register through the Office of Academic Development, 4th floor Smith Library. Evening degree students register through the Evening Degree Program office in 128 Norcross Hall.
HPU Away, High Point University's online summer school program, is designed to allow HPU students the opportunity to continue taking classes over the summer from the comfort of home. Online classes offer the student convenience and flexibility from home or wherever summer plans may take you.

Summer School 2012 Additional Information

Current StudentsCurrent HPU students do not need to apply to summer school. Simply register for summer classes beginning in the Office of Academic Development, 401 Smith Library. Registration opens March 12, 2012, and continues thru the start of classes.

Visiting StudentsIf you are a visiting student, complete the online summer school application. Current High Point University students (and those students admitted for the fall) do not need to apply for summer school.Please list all courses you plan to take this summer in the applicable section of the application. The summer school application for visiting students is not a registration form. All fees are due prior to being officially enrolled in a summer course. Once full payment is received and verified by the Student Accounts office, a visiting student will be officially registered for the courses they listed on their summer school application.Transcripts must be requested from the Office of the Registrar upon completion of course work. Submit a request in writing or visit the Office of the Registrar (Roberts Hall - Room 101) to complete a Transcript Request form. There is no fee to request an official transcript.If you plan to attend High Point University in the Fall, complete the full-length Day Program admissions application for undergraduate admission at: highpoint.edu/undergraduate. Previous admission to High Point University does not guarantee re-admission.

TuitionTuition for HPU Away and Summer Sessions I and II is $600 per credit hour or $1800 for a 3 credit course or $2400 for a four credit course.All students enrolled in summer classes will be charged a technology fee of $74 per session or a maximum or $144 if enrolled in both June/July sessions.Undergraduate day students will be charged a $74 activity fee for each four-week day session.The charge for auditing is one-half the charge for the course on a per credit hour basis. Charges may be paid by cash, check, or credit card (American Express, MasterCard, or Discover).Financial assistance for summer school is limited to funds not used during the 2011-12 academic year and requires a separate application. The deadline for all requests for summer assistance is June 30, 2012. Students should contact the Office of Student Financial Planning.Students planning to take courses in Session V [May 7 - June 5] and/or Session VI [June 11 - August 2] of the Evening Degree Program should contact the Evening Degree Office for details, tuition, and other charges or check the website at highpoint.edu/edp.

Room and BoardRoom and board charges will be $1360 for a double room for each four-week day session. A registration fee of $25 will be charged to students who have not previously attended High Point University. A meal plan is required for those enrolled in a class or internship and living on campus.

HousingDouble rooms will be made available to all students who are requesting housing during one or more summer sessions. Single rooms will only be provided if an ADA Special Housing Needs Request form has been approved through our Coordinator of Disability Services. If a student is planning on living on campus during the summer, they need to sign up via their MYSTUFF Account. Once they have logged into their account, they need to fill out the On Campus Summer Living Form. The University provides single beds, dressers, desk and chairs, and free laundry facilities. We suggest that you bring hangers, a clock, pillows, linens, blanket, throw rug, small refrigerator, shower bucket, and a study lamp. Check In InformationHousing for summer school will be open for check-in from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Summer Session I check-in is on Sunday, June 3rd. Summer Session II check-in is on Sunday, July 1st. When checking into a room each student must complete a Room Inventory form to be checked and signed by a Resident Assistant. When checking out, the Resident Assistant will compare the Room Inventory form with the current condition of the room. The student will be assessed for any damage to the room or its contents. Checkout for summer school ends at 5:00 p.m. on the last day of each summer session.Summer housing is only available to students that are enrolled in Summer Session I or II.Residential costs include room and board. All residential students automatically include a full meal plan during the summer months.

Summer Campus LifeCampus life thrives during the summer at HPU. Residential students enjoy a wide variety of engaging activities found at both The Slane Center and University Center facilities. The University Center (UC) offers generous space for fellowship, the Learning Commons, and houses "The Extraordinaire Cinema". "The Extraordinaire Cinema" features high definition quality films and seats up to 200 movie-goers. The Slane Student Center is located in the center of campus. Home to the Café, Chick-Fil-A, Subway, Starbucks, Campus Concierge desk, and HPUREC, the Slane Center serves as an information center and provides many opportunities for students to eat, stay fit, or just hang out. HPUREC features 2 levels of cardio and free-weight equipment, 2 basketball courts, an outdoor pool and even a complimentary bicycle program. HPUREC summer hours vary, please check the daily Campus Concierge email for updates. Please contact the Campus Concierge at 336.841.4636 if you have any questions.Students will be charged a $74 activity fee for each four-week day session. The fee will provide day students full access to the Slane Student Center during the months of June and July and the University Center during the month of July.Student Health Services by Cornerstone Health Care will be open Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. - Noon during the months of June and July.
